There is a thread on my local forum about a childrens home called Fulwood Cottage Homes.
I do not know where Mum and her siblings were but know it was in Sheffield.
I replied on the thread stating their surname and someone has come forward to say they know my uncle, Gordon Gower. So it answers one question, it does seem they were in this home.
It is once again a sad revelation though. Gordon was known by this person when he was around 12 yrs old in 1952(which works out cause he was born in 1940). He was in cottage 1 which had a house mother called Winnie Edge, a bit of an evil witch by all accounts and they all had a pretty rough time in there. It also seems that Gordon is no longer with us as his obituary was seen in the local newspaper in 2006.
